About Me

In the rhythm of knitting needles, there is music for the soul. (Unknown)

I’m a writer, crafter, and work-at-home-Mum. I live on a small woodlot close to Ottawa, Ontario with my husband, two children, and a very large dog. When not at his day job, my husband makes maple syrup, chops wood for maple syrup, or plans for the next syruping season, depending on the time of year. When not at my day job, I knit.

I learned to knit when I was about seven. I didn’t start knitting in earnest, however, until I was expecting our son. We had successfully used cloth diapers with our daughter and I wanted to be able to use more soakers with our second child. I enjoyed making and using the soakers so much, I started knitting for friends, and then starting offering custom soakers and longies.

It’s a great privilege to knit for someone’s child and to know that something I’ve made is being loved. Branching out into other knits makes it even more fun, and I get the chance to learn about styles from different periods of time, and bring life into something that was first created long ago.

I value creating high-quality one-of-a-kind pieces. I don’t cut corners, and I keep comfort, durability, and price in mind while knitting. I want the things I create to be worn for as long as possible by the child, and be strong enough to be passed on to another child after they’re outgrown.
